Ichigo wakes up to find a hole on the side of his house but his family clams it was from a truck hitting the house. Then In school, Ichigo is introduced to Rukia (Soul Reaper from the night before) who is posing as an exchange student until her powers return.
Rukia informs Ichigo he must now be a Soul Reaper until here powers return. But Ichigo does not want to perform the duties of a soul Reaper, until he sees a Hollow chasing a young boy. He then saves the boy but is still not promising to be a Soul Reaper. Later that night a Hollow attacks Ichigo after a short battle, Ichigo brakes some of the Hollows face off and the Hollow retreats.
Ichigo recognizes the Hollow's face as Orihime deceased older brother.
