As a Weakened Rukia and Chad (who cannot see the Hollow) are fighting the Hollow who is still hunting the young boy's soul. Ichigo gets his sister home and runs back to help them out. The Hollow threatens to kill the young boy unless Chad starts fighting him.
So Chad stands back as the Hollow chases Rukia but out of no where Ichigo appears and starts fighting the Hollow. The Hollow reveals that in his past life he was a murder who killed the young boys mother but died because the kid tripped him. So the man (as a Hollow) trapped the boys soul in a bird and has be chasing after him for weeks now killing anyone trying to stop him.
