The episode starts off with Ichigo and his friends getting in trouble for being on TV on Don Kan’inji show but Rukia soon ticks him and they sneak away. Then Rukia gets a message on her soul phone about a new Hollow.
Rukia and Ichigo go to the place where the Hollow was supposed to be they find out that it had already been defeated. Later they say this happens again but this time a teen who calls himself a Quincy tells them he killed the Hollow.
After this Rukia goes to the Urahara shop to find out what a Qunicy is. She learns that a Qunicy is a person a kills Hollows but unlike the Soul Reapers when a Qunicy kills a Hollow its gone forever. As this is happening Ichigo confronts the teen and finds out his name is Uuryu. Uuryu then challenges him to a fight Ichigo accepts.
