Killed by Kenpachi

Information: Strong willed and determined. Maki fights for what he believes is right in a course of honor and loyalty even if the consequences are dire. Though Maki is a firm man, he can't help but let his feelings control him in some matters. If two sets of feelings cross in Maki's mind, he can get confused on what he is doing and who he is fighting for.

Back Story: Maki was proud being a Soul Reaper. Believing in his duties for justice and helping Soul Society maintain order, Maki looked up to his Captain of the 11th Division. But a dark day had appeared which Kenpachi slaughtered the Captain and obtained his rank. Maki watched his Captain suffer and brutally killed, then filled with sorrow over the death of his Captain. Considering Kenpachi as a monster and not deserving the rank as a Soul Reaper, let alone a Captain, Maki was angry with rage that the Court Of Pure Souls did nothing and continued to allow Kenpachi act as Captain of the 11th Division. Finally understanding that Soul Society's judgement had fallen and it's justice must of died, Maki quit the 11th Division and fled to the Living World to Karakura Town. Reaching his destination, Maki met the Bount who saved him from a Hollow's attack and greeted their leader, Jin Kariya. Maki saw determination and ideals in his eyes and believed in Jin's judgement more than what he claims Soul Society has now. Maki joined the Bounts and became Jin's loyal follower.

Zanpaku-to: It's name is Nijigasumi. A light based Zanpaku-to. With the call "Shine brightly", Nijigasumi can create illusions and tricky light based attacks. He can also use the light energy produced to sync with his own Spiritual energy to increase his attack power.

!Anime Only! The Bount Series: Staying by Jin's side, their mansion hideout was infiltrated by Ichigo and his friends to find Uryû. Confronting Rukia, Ririn, Nova and Cloud, Maki began the fight by taking out the three Konpaku's first as he saw through their techniques rather easily. Seeing Rukia powering up a Kidô, Maki uses his Zanpaku-to to block the attack. At that instance, Maki felt a rise in Spiritual energy and made way towards it forgetting about Rukia. Jumping into the scene, he find Utagawa fighting Ichigo. Never trusting Utagawa and now knew he planned traitorous acts against Jin, Maki wrapped up Ichigo's fight by killing Utagawa with his Initial release. Ichigo was now Maki's fight. Maki gave Ichigo a fight worth concentrating about as Maki used his Zanpaku-to to keep Ichigo on the defense. Finally Maki used his Initial release to bring Ichigo to his knees before being interupted by Jin who wanted to land the finishing blow. But Maki and Jin couldn't do anything when Ichigo and his friends were saved by Kisuke and his group. After the mess had cleared up, Maki found the Bount Mabashi about to die by Shuhei's Zanpaku-to. Maki jumped in and saved Mabashi from death and took him away. Accompanying the last surviving Bount, Maki had to watch Ichigo has he fought Jin head to head in their underground cave. Maki wanted as much as possible to help Jin beat Ichigo but was told not to by Koga. Finally they managed to break back into Soul Society thanks to Uryû's help. As they entered Soul Society, Maki was ordered to help Koga convince a group of people from the Kusajishi district of Rukongai, one of the roughest areas in Soul Society, to rise against the Court Of Pure Souls and help them create a new Soul Society. Upon completing the task, Maki was told to find the data on the Bount and try to get rid of it. Infiltrating the Court Of Pure Souls, Maki deleted the data on the Bount and rushed to the forest to fight Toushiro, Ichigo, Renji, Rangiku, Yasutora, Orihime and Uryû from following Jin as he prepares to attack the Court Of Pure Souls. As it is such an unfair fight, Maki immediatly uses his Initial release to trap everyone in an illusion so he can pick them off one by one. But his plan back fired as Kenpachi arrived, and with the sheer intensity of his Spiritual energy, shattered Maki's illusion. Maki now facing Kenpachi, the man who he has wanted to kill ever since Kenpachi killed the previous 11th Division Captain. Maki had no choice but to let the others go as he fought Kenpachi. Knowing of how powerful a man he is, Maki used his Initial release to power himself up and tried to land a blow onto Kenpachi many a time but every swing failed as Kenpachi easily dodged and blocked each blow. Angry at Kenpachi for everything he has ever done, he finally manages to land a blow cutting Kenpachi's shoulder. But this simply made Kenpachi enjoy the fight more making Maki have to be on the defense not allowing him to land a single blow. Maki was heavily outmatched. As Maki whined on about Kenpachi's duty as a Captain he used his ultimate Initial release attack to trap Kenpachi within a bright dome. Clearing the area, Maki watched from afar as the energy got brighter and brighter and slowly got smaller and smaller. Yachiru who was watching aswell, told him Kenpachi is not dead but Maki was determined he was. But no way, Maki felt a dramatic increase in Kenpachi's Spiritual energy as he actually broke out of the dome. Asking how Kenpachi could do such a thing, he saw that Kenpachi had removed his eye patch. Maki watched in awe as Kenpachi just shrugged it off as nothing and pointed his Zanpaku-to at Maki. Maki tried to attack but his blade was caught and then he suffered a wound straight across his chest. As Kenpachi had enough and walked away, Maki rose to his feet and erupted in energy. Kenpachi explained that Maki is not fighting for Jin, his beloved leader. Maki is merely fighting on pure revenge instinct being controlled by useless emotions. Maki didn't know what to think, he wanted to believe Kenpachi was wrong but couldn't think if he was right. Blindly increasing his energy, Maki ferociously attacked Kenpachi with everything he had but sadly, his Zanpaku-to was broken in half and he suffered a killing blow from Kenpachi. Maki collapsed to the ground calling out his Captain and lay there, dead.
