Today, I shall compare the DBZ movie special
"The History of Trunks" and the DBZ special Manga chapter
"Trunks the Story: The Lone Warrior"
Both take place in Trunk's timeline, and follow a similar plot.
*Note* (I purchased History of Trunks WAY back before I bought one of those "DVD" players, as the kids call them these days (lol) therefore, I have not seen the "Uncut" or "Japanese" version of it. The FUNi versions of the movies seem to be mostly accurate in their translations (More than the FUNI version of the anime itself) so I'm gonna have to wing it. Oh well, you guys don't care ^_^)

Anime version, and
TtS is the special
Manga chapter . There are some key differences, and lots of filler. Hehehe I'm on a mission to compare.

MAJOR
Gohan's Arm

HoT: After the blast in the first fight with #17 and #18, we see Gohan giving Trunks a Senzu, and while he crawls towards Trunks, his arm is already gone.
TtS: Trunks states that the Senzu plant died, and if it didn't then his arm would have been saved.
Differences and stuff: Apparently Gohan's arm was
amputated , since Senzu doesn't regrow body parts, Gohan must have still had his arm when he was injured. Also an important fact about the Senzu: the tree died, so Gohan
couldn't have fed Trunks the Senzu in the first place, because there were none.
MAJOR
Gohan vs #17

HoT: Gohan seemed to be fairing
quite well against #17 and #18, with his arm missing being his only disadvantage.
TtS: It only showed #17 attack, #18 didn't need to help. Gohan stated that he had been training and could defeat #17 now. #17 then stated that he was only using
LESS THAN HALF his power in their last battle, which left Gohan shocked.
Differences: Gohan seemed to be alot stronger in HoT, when he was actually half as strong as #17 in the manga.

Trunks's Anger

HoT: When Gohan dies, Trunks gets
very angry and pounds the ground, and then he goes SSJ for the first time.
TtS: Trunks was already a SSJ at the start of the chapter. Here he just pounds the ground and cracks it.
Differences: This is where he first goes SSJ in HoT, while he already knew how in the Manga.

HoT: After Trunks begs to fight with Gohan, Gohan agrees, but before they fly away, Gohan karate chops the back of his neck.
TtS: After Trunks begs to fight with Gohan, Gohan says "Look!!", Trunks looks, and Gohan karate chops the back of his neck.
Differences and stuff: The karate chopping was different. Toriyama's was funnier hehehe. Stupid Trunks ^_^
FACTS from the manga version :
Bulma smokes in Trunks's timeline, while Im sure she never did in the main timeline.
#17 and #18 have a game where they hit people with cars, which is so they don't kill everyone in a city at once, as the fun would end quicker.
#17 has 4 sets of his outfit, which he comments on after Gohan destroys the one he was currently wearing.
Gohan wears Goku's Gi because he thought he would become as strong as him, although he comments that it is not enough.
Gohan last fought #17 and #18 (and lost his arm) one year ago.
One round trip in the Time Machine takes exactly 8 months to charge.
Bulma's old lab had been destroyed, therefore making Bulma restart on her Time Machine. Apparently her
new Time Machine was worse than the old one, since she had less time to work on it.
When Trunks fights the Jinzonigen's 3 years after Gohan's death, they were attacking
300 KM south of West City.
