Nervously, Goten walked up toward the beautiful girl, checking to see that his hair looked alright, that there was nothing on his face, etc. As he got to the girl, he took a deep breath, and cleared his throat rather loudly. The girl turned around and smiled. At that moment, a wave of nervousness hit Goten, and he could feel his legs turn to jelly. "H-h-hi," the half-Saiyan managed to stutter. The giggled softly and said, "Hi," back. Goten gulped, and attempted at a conversation. (but failed horribly) "S-so... nice day, h-huh?" The girl laughed again, and replied, "Why are you so nervous?" "Who s-says I'm nervous?"
At that moment Gohan, Videl, and Pan walked by, stopping to see what Goten was up to. (I apologize to all of you Pan haterz, but she is still a central character, even in DT.) Pan walked up to her slightly shaking uncle and smiled rather widely. "So... who's [i]this,[/i] uncle Goten?" Goten attempted a smile, but his nervousness (someone reply with a better word than 'nervous') warped the grin somewhat. "What? It's not like that, come on! I mean..." Goten laughed a little, then dropped down to Pan's level and started whispering in her ear. "listen, I just met this girl, and I want to make a good impression, and it would be a much better one if [i]someone[/i] wouldn't be making it harder!" Pan raised her head and crossed her arms in an arrogant sort of way. "Hmph. Someone's in a bad mood today..." Fortunately for his younger brother, Gohan intervened smiling. "Come on, Pan. I think your uncle's a little busy right now." As Pan and Videl walked off, Gohan gently elbowed Goten. "Knock her dead, bro," he said soft enough for only them to hear, then joined his family.
The girl, who had been watching the ordeal, smiled and asked, "Was that your family?" Goten thought about lying, but knew that that would be stupid. "Well," he answered, scratching the back of his head, "sorta. My older brother and his family." The girl answered, "I'm an only child. I've always wondered what it would be like to have some siblings." After Goten muttered something that resembled, 'want mine?' the girl went on, smiling sweetly. "So your name's Goten? I like that name." At that, the half-Saiyan brightened up. "Really? Well, uh... thanks! So, what's your name?" "Valese," she responded, her smile widening a bit. At that moment, all of Goten's reluctance and nervousness left him, and he smiled back. 'Something tells me this is the start of a [i]beautiful[/i] relationship' he thought.
Don't worry, the next part will get back to Piccolo and Marr, who are still headed toward the Lookout.
